I DID IT!!!! - I AM AN NEA DIRECTOR!- to my friends and family, please read:

1/21/12

At this morning's VEA Board meeting, I was certified as the NEA Director- Elect of the Virginia Education Association!

This morning I was too busy keeping up with board notes, correct spelling, and preparing presentations and reality had not set in: I just became a NEA Director for the Virginia Education Association!! Not bad for a girl who has been through so many trials and tribulations in life. I love the VEA- I will forever be dedicated to this association. Never had I ever imagined that I would be anything more than a stereotypical homeless "underprivileged juvenile delinquent" that never graduated from high school. .. I hope I make you proud, daddy. I miss you, R.I.P.  - Kellie.

THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HAVE SUPPORTED ME. IT IS YOU THAT HAS LIFTED ME TO FLY.

"FLY"
I came to win, to fight, to conquer, to thrive
I came to win, to survive, to prosper, to rise
To fly
To fly

6:13 am, and yes- I've been up since 3:00 am. I've cleaned the house for the day, got my daughter's clothes and stuff in order for the week, prepared for a few events happening before our Winter Break.  As usual lots is going on for me.  Two weeks ago I completed another semester of grad courses. I am thankful that is over! I only took one class because I didn't want to overwhelm myself with course work and association work. I figured college will always be there. Opportunities to become more involved with the association, especially in leadership roles will not always be there. Especially during a time when I am confident that I am capable of being in leadership positions. I don't have to start grad class again until the end of January, which does give me a little breathing space, but I know I will fill that extra time with association stuff.  I am happy to do so; doing what I can to encourage my local and assist our state affiliate is what makes me happy. It's how I show my appreciation for an organization that has changed my life. VEA is part of my family. HAPPY HOLIDAY EVERYONE!

11/16/11: MEANT TO BE A TEACHER!

I know I do a lot of things, I push myself to the extreme to get done whatever I set out to do. Here and there I get compliments that keep me going. Today, I received a compliment that touched my soul:

PARENT: "You'll have a special place in heaven for all your hard work with all these children. God Bless you and all your family"

ME: "That was the most kind thing a parent has ever said to me :). Thank you very much. You have made my morning!"

PARENT:" I really meant it because you seldom find a teacher these days who put their heart, mind, intellect , and soul into special student's life to become successful . And thanks a billion"

yeah- I wast meant to be a TEACHER! Thank you SVEA and VEA for steering me in the right direction!- and thank you for touching my soul, Jose David Manzanarez!

10/18/11: RADFORD SVEA ROCKS!!!

WHAT AN AWESOME CHAPTER!!! This group of student leaders are the future of our association. I was honored to be a guest speaker at their chapter meeting. This is event was one of the best experiences in my life. The ladies of their board of directors ROCK- they thrive, they inspire, .. they are true leaders!  I thank them all for treating me like a queen! Best of all, I have gained new friends. Whichever school system this group of students work in, I know they will be extremely successful. I am so proud of them, I cannot wait to come back and visit!  My VEA friends,- do not underestimate the power of SVEA! Must guide them and train them by allowing them to take reins of leadership... they are the future of our association. So many of them are ready and willing to be active association leaders.

10/16: Feelin' the Love.....

I love my association leaders, mentors, and friends! In the past 72 hours of being at the VEA Board meeting, I have received a humbling amount of support! It's not easy carrying on the tradition of Beck Austin by being responsible for taking comprehensive notes for the board. The encouragement keeps me going. I am also receiving  lots of positive feedback for my campaign. I sincerely thank those who have given a campaign contribution. I will not let you down! :o)

10/6/11: A Gift and a Curse...

I turn all my thoughts and ideas into actions that are driven by passion and dedication,.. maybe a little narcissism, lol. I always follow through and follow up.  The problem is that I can't stop the thoughts and ideas! o_0

Perhaps its not a gift or curse, but rather untreated adult ADD.
